Inside the Yamaha PSR-E463: A Comprehensive Look at the Style List

The Yamaha PSR-E463 represents a significant step up from entry-level portable keyboards, largely due to its expansion of the "Style" engine. While many users focus on the keys or the sound library, the Style List is the engine that transforms the instrument from a simple sound module into a full backing band.

Important Notes for PSR-E463:

  • Styles 001-235 are accessed via the "Style" button and the numeric keypad or +/- keys.
  • No Expansion: Unlike the newer PSR-E473/E483, the E463 cannot load external .sty files into user memory. You can only play MIDI style files via the USB port as "Song" playback, not as Auto-Accompaniment styles.
  • Dance 1 vs Dance 2: The list above separates them logically. On the keyboard, Dance (001-008) and Dance 2 (220-227) are in different banks.
