x360ce (Xbox 360 Controller Emulator) is a popular open-source utility that allows non-Xbox controllers (DirectInput) to function as official Xbox 360 controllers (XInput) on PC.

DLL Hooking Precision: Unlike version 4, which creates a system-wide virtual controller, 3.2.8.77 creates specific xinput1_3.dll files directly in your game folder. This is often more stable for "middle-era" PC games from the 2010s.

Centralized Configuration: You no longer need to copy/paste files into game directories. You simply run the x360ce.exe application, map your controller once, and minimize it to the system tray while playing.

If you’re trying to get a non-Xbox controller working in an old game, stick with the official tool. Your PC’s security isn’t worth a risky download labeled “extra quality.”

Issue 3: Double Inputs (Both x360ce and Game Detect Controller)

Cause: The game sees your real controller AND the emulated Xbox controller. Solution: In x360ce, go to Options → uncheck "Hook Mode" or use "Device Blacklist" to hide your physical controller from the game.
