3. Installation & driver setup (critical)

  1. Install SP Flash Tool – unzip to a folder, run flash_tool.exe as Administrator.
  2. Install VCOM drivers (auto or manual):

    How to Use SP Flash Tool 4.8.0 (Basic Steps)

    1. Install Drivers – MediaTek USB VCOM drivers (add legacy hardware if on Windows 10/11).
    2. Extract the Tool – Run flash_tool.exe as Administrator.
    3. Load Scatter File – Click Scatter-loading and select the MTxxxx_Android_scatter.txt from your firmware folder.
    4. Select Flash Mode – Choose Download Only (safe) or Firmware Upgrade (clean install).
    5. Power Off Device – Ensure the battery is connected (removable or not).
    6. Click “Download” – Then connect the powered-off phone via USB.
    7. Wait for Completion – A green check mark indicates success.
    • Download Only: Overwrites partitions listed without wiping others (safe).
    • Format All + Download: Destroys NVRAM (IMEI), calibrations, and Wi-Fi/BT addresses. Avoid this unless you have a backup.
    • Firmware Upgrade: Recommended for changing Android versions.
