The "Scud Race / Sega GT" Anomaly

Perhaps the most exclusive item in any serious archive is the CHD (Compressed Hunks of Data) for the hard drive-based Model 3 Step 1.5 games. Scud Race (known as Sega Super GT in the US) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park used SCSI hard drives. Dumping those drives required proprietary adapters. A genuine exclusive archive contains the raw, undamaged CHD files sourced directly from a "bit-perfect" dump of an operator's drive from 1998. sega model 3 rom archive exclusive

  1. Frontend: Use Supermodel UI.exe (Windows) or Supermodel-3.0.dmg (Mac).
  2. Configuration: Map your controls. Note that Spikeout requires four buttons plus a joystick; Star Wars Trilogy requires analog sticks.
  3. Resolution Fix: The exclusive ROMs often contain the raw resolution flags. Set your resolution to 1920x1080, but enable "Widescreen Hack" at your own peril—Daytona USA 2's track textures will tear at the edges.
  4. The "New City" Command: For the most exclusive prototype of Virtua Fighter 3, you must enable the "New City" stage in the Service Menu. This stage was cut from the final Dreamcast port and exists only in the Model 3 archive.

The "Exclusive" Lineup: The Games

A Model 3 archive typically contains roughly 30-40 titles, but the value is defined by a handful of absolute masterpieces that were, for a long time, difficult to emulate perfectly. If your archive includes these, it is a goldmine:

The archival and emulation scene has shifted focus from mere "playability" to "stability" in 2026:
