The Feature: Automatic Backup & History Management

PowerGREP is primarily used for Search and Replace across hundreds or thousands of files. In a standard text editor, doing a mass "Replace All" is risky; if you make a mistake with your Regex pattern, you could corrupt dozens of files instantly.

Tips for Maximum Portability

• Place PowerGREP.exe in a sync folder (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive) to use it from any synced PC.
• Keep a Patterns.txt file on the same drive with your commonly used regex expressions.
• Use relative paths when saving file lists or output folders – e.g., ..\Results instead of C:\My Projects.
• Regularly backup the Settings folder – it contains your license info and customizations.
