Method 3: The Bourbon & Conditioner Soak

Do not use mink oil (it rots cotton thread). Instead, use a 50/50 mix of pure neatsfoot oil and liquid lanolin. Warm the mixture slightly. Apply it generously to the inside of the boot (the rough side) and the outside. Wear the boots for 4 hours. The oils lubricate the collagen fibers in the leather, allowing them to slide past each other without cracking. Hightide Breaking In Betty
