Fx Ray Frequency Separation is a free or donationware panel/plugin for Adobe Photoshop (CS6 and later, including CC). It automates the traditional Frequency Separation process, which splits an image into two layers: a Low Frequency layer (color and tone, usually blurry) and a High Frequency layer (texture and fine details). This allows retouchers to smooth skin or remove blemishes without destroying natural skin texture.

Static Radius: You often guess the blur radius (usually 10-20px). Too high, and you lose structure; too low, and you get texture bleeding.
Destructive Workflow: Most manual methods require smart objects or specific brush settings that are easy to mess up.

Adjust the preview. Toggle the "Preview" checkbox to see the low-frequency color layer. Ensure you don't see texture bleeding.

Select the "LF_Color" layer. Use the "Mixer Brush" or the panel’s "Soften" button to blur blemishes and uneven tones.
