We all know the feeling. You’ve beaten Baal a thousand times in Vanilla D2. You’ve crafted every runeword, farmed every Jah rune, and you’re looking for a reason to reinstall.

Location: Typically found in the /save/ folder within your Diablo II directory, or a specific mod subfolder if using a launcher like D2SE. Diablo 2 Eastern Sun Character Saves

1. Locate the correct folder (check the Virtual Store if they aren't in the game folder).
2. Backup often, especially before cubing high-tier runes or fighting bosses, as the mod increases difficulty significantly.
3. Use UdieMX for editing, as standard editors break mod items.
4. Keep the Mod Version consistent, as patching the mod can break existing character saves.

• If you try to log into Battle.net with an ES character, the server will reject the save file because it contains items that do not exist in the vanilla database. You must play Open Battle.net (highly hacked/unsafe) or, more commonly, TCP/IP or Single Player.

• Restore a backup and run the previous version of the mod/game used when the backup was made.
