The AutoCAD 2021 Language Pack is a free add-on that allows you to run AutoCAD 2021 in a different language from the one originally installed. Unlike full software installations, language packs do not duplicate the core software, making them an efficient way to switch the interface and documentation. Key Features and Availability
- Single-user: Download and run language pack installer; create language-specific shortcuts for switching.
- Departmental deployment: Create an SCCM package that installs AutoCAD 2021 and then applies the language pack as a post-installation step. Use silent install flags for unattended deployment.
- Mixed-language environment: Install base AutoCAD and add several language packs so users can pick preferred language via shortcuts or workspace. Provide documentation for switching.
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): Include language packs in the golden image; consider profile-based shortcuts for users.
Cons / Limitations
- Does NOT Translate Drawing Text: The pack changes the interface only. Existing text objects (notes, dimensions, titles) inside
.dwgfiles remain in their original language. You still need a font or a separate translation service for drawing content. - No Partial Installations: You must install the full language pack for that language. There is no "only help files" or "only command line" option.
- Help File Location: The translated help files are often stored locally, increasing disk usage by ~500 MB–1 GB per language.
- Command Alias Confusion: Some command aliases may not match the translated command names (e.g.,
LINEremainsL, but the tooltip shows the local language). This is minor but can confuse new users.
- Useful commands and locations (AutoCAD-specific)
To use a language pack, you must have the base AutoCAD 2021 already installed on your system. Access Your Account: Sign in to your Autodesk Account.
Because Autodesk removes old language packs from the default "Product Updates" view after three years, finding the Autocad Language Pack 2021 requires using the "Historical Versions" filter in your Autodesk Account.
User Flexibility: Individual users on a shared workstation can use different languages.
Reduced Footprint: Only installs the necessary localized files (menus, help files, ribbons) rather than the entire software suite.
